Christmas album by Syracuse, Ind., singer is the first release by new Fort Wayne record label
Fort Wayne, Ind. // November 30, 2011
A jazzy pop collection of Christmas standards featuring a young Northeast Indiana vocalist is the first release from a new record label in Fort Wayne.
The new album, “Sleigh Bells in the Air,” is an 11-song album by 18-year-old Hannah Bushong of Syracuse, Ind., a young singer whose vocal influences range from the classic Ella Fitzgerald to the contemporary Corinne Bailey Rae.
The album was produced and engineered by renowned regional rock producer Tim Bushong – who is also Hannah’s father – at his studio in Syracuse, TBush Recording. Tim Bushong is well-known to area musicians as the producer for albums by local musicians Sunny Taylor and Mike Conley.
Musicians featured on the album include Tim Bushong on guitars, bass and trombone, Jon Swerens on piano and vibraphone, Greg Purlee and Rick Gerig on drums, Samuel Brown on saxophone, Sarah Smith on background vocals, Ann (Bushong) Lohman on piano on “O Holy Night,” and Ian Maxton, the male vocalist on “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”
Full-length audio of four of the songs from the album — “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” “White Christmas,” “Christmastime Is Here” and “Sleigh Bells” — can be found at rockhillrecords.com.
Hannah will be performing at several spots in December, including Dec. 21 at the Wooden Nickel on North Anthony Boulevard in Fort Wayne.
Rockhill Records was founded by Fort Wayne resident and musician Jon Swerens as a label that offers a la carte design and marketing services for select local musicians.
